I flew to Santiago, Chile at the beginning of a long-term stint in South America. My goal was to explore Argentina, with a bit of Chile as is common for many travelers. Tickets to Argentina were super expensive, and so I flew to Chile for a few hundred dollars less. I also have friends that live in Santiago, and I got to visit them for a few days which was a win all around. Instead of heading to Argentina after my time in Santiago, I decided to head north in Chile to Atacama

Disclaimer: Peru was my first time third-world traveling, back in 2015. I kept this post short, without too much information since much of it won’t be applicable anymore. I suggest you fact check before making any plans. I was in Peru for a short trip over Pesach in 2015. I only visited Cusco and Machu Pichu. I flew there a few days before Pesach and worked remotely from there. The internet wasn’t that great though I imagine it has improved since. Activities Tip #1: Don’t boo
